Having worked as a professional photographer for more than 25 years before turning to pottery, images have always been an everyday part of my life. Even the simplest pottery form that I create comes from images of what I believe a piece of pottery should be. The form, the feel, and the feeling that the viewer has - - all are important elements for me as I work with clay.

Most artist, no matter what their medium, will agree that they have more images in their minds than they will be able to commit to some type of permanence in their works during their lifetime. Photography taught me early that 'under no circumstance can you reproduce the original'. My work interprets the images that I have experienced through the years. For example, as an avid scuba diver, I have been creating a number of pieces in which I interprets the images of fish with which I have swum. The raku sculptures capture the image and beauty of the water creatures that I have in my mind's eye.

It is my intent that each person who sees my work will forever carry that image in their mind, whether or not they ever posses a piece of my work. My greatest pleasure in creating art comes from the thought that someone will endeavor to describe one of my clay works to another in an attempt to transfer the image to them. If a piece of my work has created an image in your mind, please share that image with a friend.
